Abrazando Cristo means "Embracing Christ". This is a
Roman Catholic Mission Program begun in the Diocese
ofLake Charles when Hurricane Mitch devastated the
northern part of Nicaragua and southern part of
Honduras. This has been categorized as one of the most
devastating hurricanes in history.
The mission of the program is to "to bring the Good
News" of Jesus Christ to the poor in mind, body and spirit
throughout the world by meeting the needs of their
safety, shelter, food, medical treatment and spiritual
renewal.
It is our basic mission to be a sign of Christʼs
presence and to work side by side with persons from
Nicaragua by learning from them, working with them and
sharing the love of Christ with them.
